How To ... Apply Eye Makeup
You always apply two or three tones of eyeshadow and the colors should blend in a smooth way between the different shades. When you use three colors then you have the base, the main color and the highlight color. The base color is applied on the eyelids first, then the main color and then the highlight in the crease of the eyes. How you should apply the main color for each type of face will be discussed in this article also.
The first step of how to apply eyeshadow is to apply the primer. When you use a primer before applying eyeshadow it will make the end result look smother and it is the difference of makeup that lasts a few hours to a full day.
When you are picking the shimmer or the highlight color be carefull. The shimmer is used to bring out the eyes but too much of it will also bring out the wrinkles and other lines.
How to Apply Eyeshadow on Different Face Types
The main thing you have to remember when you are choosing your eyeshadow colors is that dark colors deepen the eyes and that light colors will make your eyes stand out. Choose the right colors for your face and eye type and have some q-tips near you in case you mess something up.
There are different types of faces and eyes and for each one there is a different technique that you should use to make your face look more appealing:
Wide-set eyes: on wide set eyes you use the dark tone in from the inside corner of the eyelid to the middle of the eyelid and apply the light tone from the center to the outside of the eyelids.
Close-set eyes: if you have close set eyes you have to apply the dark tone of the eyeshadow from the centre to the outside of your eyelides and go beyond the outre corner. Then apply a lighter color from the center to the inside of the eyelid.
Droopy eyes: if you have droopy eyes then you have to apply the darker tone on your eyelid and go upwards in a wing shape. Use the highlight tone under your eyebrows.
Big eyes: In this case you apply the dark eyeshadow tone going outwards and a little bit upwards on the eyelid. The highlight should be just under the eyebrows with a lighter color.
Small eyes: If you have small eyes then you apply the darker tone of eyeshadow on the socket of the eye and the upper part of the eyelid. On the lid you should use a lighter tone of eyeshadow and highlight under the eyebrows.

How To ... Apply Eye Makeup, Eyeliner and Mascara
The eyes are the window to the soul and are the part of your makeup that will require the most time and patience to do. Knowing how to apply makeup is essential to look good and to have a good overall makeup style. When you are applying eye makeup you need various products varying from a few different eyeshadow tones, eyeliner, mascara and concealer.
You will need a few different tones of eyeshadow, 2 or 3 for each makeup style and you can get these in different types, you can choose between eyeshadow powder, eyeshadow cream in a stick or in pencil forms and paints in a tube in all different textures.
The eyeliner can be a liquid eyeliner that is applied with a thin brush and these require you to have a some training and a steady hand to apply them. For most girls the best is using eyeliner pencils because they are very easy to use and you don’t need such a steady hand.
The final product you will need is the mascara in a tube with a brush or it can come in a powder cake. Powder cake mascara is rare nowadays because the mascara in a tube with a brush gives a much better effect and you can carry it around and use it easier.
An extra product you might want to have handy is a concealer. Although the concealer is part of the foundation it can be use to make the dark circles under your eyes a bit lighter before you start your makeup.
How to Apply Eyeshadow
Most of the eyeshadow sets come in sets of three tones that have three different values from light, medium and dark. As a rule of thumb you should apply the light tone to the top part of your eyelids and on the brow bone. Then use the medium tone to color your eyelids by beginning at the inside corner of the eye and stoking to the outer part of the eye lid. To blend the eyeshadow tones you can use a brush or your fingertip.
After that you should use the dark tone to add some depth and then blend the colors together to finish it off. Remember that dark tones make you eyes look deeper and light tones make your eyes pop out.
How to Apply Eyeliner
The second step in the eye makeup is to apply the eyeliner. Eyeliner can give different effects depending on how you apply it. If you want your eyes to look wider then you start the line about one fourth away
from the inside of the eye. The line should start out thin and get a little bit bigger on the edge. If your eyes are already wide apart then you can make them look closer together by making the line on the whole eyelid length.
How to Apply Mascara
The final touch of you eye makeup is applying mascara. Mascara makes the eyebrows look thicker and longer. When you apply mascara it is important that you look down into your mirror or that you tilt your head so that you can see the whole eyelashes and not just the tips. When applying the mascara use light strokes so that you can separate the lashes and get a nice coat of mascara that makes your lashes longer, darker and thicker. Don’t leave any clumps on your lashes because that will take the natural look away!
The eyes are an essential part of your makeup routine and it is the part of your makeup that will take the longest!
